Taking inspiration from John Baldessari and “Working Class History” and continuing some of my work about erasure, I’m exploring the idea of what history looks like when we remove the most important class of citizens and showcasing the gravity and expansiveness of the working class.

One of the organizers of the first all women strike in Colombia. The strikers demanded equal pay to men. Other demands included no penalty for sick leave, being paid directly instead of to fathers or husbands, and less surveillance and searches of the workers.

A strike by 1300 African-American workers in support of eliminating workplace harassment, discrimination, and mistreatment, as well as the recent death of two workplace deaths at the sanitation plant. Martin Luther King Jr. would later come to the city in support of the workers.

A group of Anti-nazi partisans in Greece, mostly communists, agreed to lay down arms in return for participation in politics. The Right later betrayed them and arrested and killed many of these partisans.
